The process of casting into a silicone mold can be challenging.
I have experienced a fair amount of trial and error along the way.
Each new project presents its own obstacles, so I'm continually learning and working on ways to improve the process.
For me, model motoring is a lot like model railroading only with slot cars. Building as much realism into a layout adds interest to the track for racers and spectators alike. I feel the same is true for a display or diorama.
When the need to produce larger quantities requires accuracy and repeatability some type of machine tool is required. For items such as my springs and US1 guide pins, I use CNC machines. For my safety cones, I machined the mold using a Bridgeport mill and an EDM machine.
To actually mold the cones, this was done using an injection mold press.
